GOLD COUNTRY SENIOR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION

Minutes, February 6, 2008

 

  1. Board meeting was called to order at 6:45 PM.
  2. All board members [7] were present.
  3. Money loaned for 2007 beginning of season field work by Gordon Mangel and        

Bob Swarthout to be re-imbursed from our treasury as funds are now available.

  1. Bruce, Frank, and Rich Eacobacci attended the Western Gateway Park Board Meeting and requested a 10% discount for our user fee, as WGP is proposing a user fee increase for 2008.                                                    
  2. GCSSA Board approved payment of $300 to “Street Magic” that yearly goes to the league champion.
  3. Bill Howland is on the WGP Board, and we will work through him as our contact with the Park Board.

Ball Fields:

  1. The French drain work for fields 1 & 2 is in process and being done by WGP personnel.
  2. WGP says they have a person knowledgeable at gopher control for our fields.
  3. The Board discussed the possibility of allotting funds to a designated person and a group of available volunteers to do ongoing field maintenance since the WGP can no longer afford to do the work which means we could have reasonably good playing conditions until some major work to the fields in the fall of 2008.

Survey:

10. Survey questions to be assembled by February 13. and mailed to membership.

Miscellaneous:

  1. Rules Committee Members to be co-ordinated by Grant Montgomery.
  2. Bill Howland would like to run the 2008 player draft.
  3. Gary Silveria is making up a flyer to be displayed all over the area to alert new players, and members of the March  signups and tryouts on Saturdays from 9am to 12 noon.
  4. The Board agreed to one practice game for each team before the start of the season on April 7, as there is only one week after Saturday March 29, to have this happen.     
  5. Jerry Furman confirms that our emergency phone number to the sheriff’s office is displayed in the green shed, and also there is a first aid kit. The banner that we display on the fence screen facing Highway 20 will be hung up.
  6. Board Members discussed their assignments and what had been accomplished or still in process.
  7. The next Board Meeting is March 5. at Bruce’s home at 6:30 pm.
  8. GCSSA GENERAL BOARD MEETING to be held at 12:30 pm, March 22, after the Saturday signup and tryouts at WGP ball field area.
  9. Board Meeting adjourned at 9:35pm.
