GOLD COUNTRY SENIOR SOFTBALL
ASSOCIATION
Minutes, June 25, 2008
- Board meeting called to
order at 6:30 pm at Reinhardt residence.
- Board members present:
Wilson, Reinhardt, Montgomery, Silveria, Eacobacci, Furman.
- Subject: Selection of
remaining All Star players that were not named on the All Star ballots, to
reach team quotas of 13 players per team.
- Ten teams picked 2
players from age group 50-59, and 2 players from age group 60+, on their
respective teams, for a total of 40 players.
- The board placed 12
more players on the All Star teams to reach a quota of 52 players, by
selecting players with the next highest vote totals on the ballots. The
Saturday teams had 4 players selected based on statistics, as they did not
have ballots for voting.
- Teams were made up in
alternate draft order. 1-3-5-7-9 for the West 50’s and the North 60’s, and
2-4-6-8-10 for the East 50’s and the South 60’s. A few players were moved to
different teams to even out the positions, and to have at least 2 pitchers
on each team.
- Grass Valley Ford had
one 50 year old and three 60+ selected on the balloting.
- A double elimination
tournament after the season for the last two weeks of August will be discussed
further. There are some rainout games to possibly be scheduled also.
- The All Star game
ceremonies commence on Tuesday July 1ST, 2008 on field #2 at
5pm.
- All Star hats and
certificates to be presented to each player selected.
- The water pump that runs
the field sprinklers has to be replaced. The fields have not had any watering
for the last 2-3 weeks, and are very dry and dying. The park is having this
major problem looked at, and hopefully a solution will come soon.
