GCSSA NEWS FROM THE JUNE 4TH BOARD MEETING

Subject:   GCSSA rule change #1

Frank Seman brought a proposal before the Board to lower the age limit to 65 years of age for using the “Miken Ultra 2” softball bat. Signatures of 84 GCSSA players have agreed to the lower age limit. 38 players had yet to be polled, and there was 1 vote against the proposed change. The Saturday league has 1 player who only plays on Saturday in the 65-69 age group, who was not polled. All players were not polled due to Frank not getting their signatures before the June 4TH Board meeting. With the percentage of players in favor, being very overwhelming, the Board voted to approve this rule change. The rule change will be effective starting Monday, June 9TH 2008. All players 65-69 years of age in 2008, are OK to use this bat if desired. 70 years and up are already in the rules to use this bat.

Subject:   GCSSA rule change #2

Since there is more daylight time to play our games, the board approved a return to the 0-0 ball and strike count, effective on Monday June 9TH 2008, for the remainder of the season.
