GENERAL INFORMATION: Gold Country Senior Softball Association (GCSSA) P. O. Box 328 Penn Valley, CA 95946
The draft for the weeknight teams took place on Sunday, March 28 at Players Pizza. Eleven managers selected from a field of 132 players. Sponsors for the weeknight teams are Stucki Jewelers, State Farm Insurance, Players Pizza, Pryor Construction, The Union, Washington Town Generals, Meyers Investment Group, Penn Valley Mini Storage, Taco-Shell, and Tax Dodgers. The Draft for the Saturday teams took place on March 29th. Four managers selected from a field of 41 players. Sponsors are O E Mobile Repair, B & C True Value, Grass Valley Glass and Hopper Construction. We added a team to both the weeknight and Saturday Leagues. Weeknights with eleven teams and Saturday with four teams. Practice games will start on April 6 and the regular season will start on April 13th for the weeknight players. A practice game is scheduled on April 3rd and the regular season to start on April 10th for the Saturday players. We have some changes in the sponsors. Players Pizza moved from a Saturday sponsor to a weeknight sponsor. Don Edgman, a player and owner of the General Store in the town of Washington, is sponsoring a weeknight team. Bob Olson, a player, is sponsoring a Saturday team for his son who owns O E Mobile Repair. Ron Hopper, a player and owner of Hopper construction is sponsoring a Saturday team. Members are encouraged to support our sponsors. Let’s give these sponsors a sincere thank you. The Sponsors contribute about 20 percent of our budget. With players Bob Swarthout, Jeff Ackerman, Don Pryor and Frank Kasparian having a strong interest or ownership of four other sponsorships, you can see that GCSSA is primarily supported by the players. Our expenses this year will be significant as it was last year. We anticipate spending about $30,000. A copy of the budget is attached to this notice for your information. Western Gateway Park purchased two defibrillators and one should be available in the vicinity of the playing fields for this season. Several of our members have signed up for a First Aid-CPR class to be held on April 10, 2010. If you are interested in getting training, please contact Richard Eacobacci or any board member. The Board members this year are Dave Anderson, Steve Cochran, Chamba Lane, Richard Eacobacci, Bill Wilson, Don Pryor and Dick Scott. The League has a Web Site (www.gcssasoftball.org) maintained by John Stillwell. You can check this site for a variety of information. The League Bylaws, Rules of Play, Team Standings, Players Statistics, Game Schedules, News Items and a variety of other information are available on this site. If you have questions, check this site out first. All Players have a part in keeping the League and games running well. Players help by being at games on time, letting managers know when they will miss a game, being ready for the at bat, keeping the games moving without undue delay, volunteering for various work details and enjoying the game. Thank you, The 2010 GCSSA Board
