GOLD COUNTRY
SENIOR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
Minutes, May 7,
2008
- Board meeting called to
order at 6:45 pm, at Reinhardt residence.
- Members present: Wilson,
Reinhardt, Eacobacci, Montgomery, Furman, Kasparian. Absent was Silveria.
- Minutes were approved for
the April 1ST Board Meeting. Minutes were approved for the
Emergency Meeting that was held at Field 2 grandstand on April 29TH.
- The five yards of gravel
that Jack Madison ( Stucki’s ) donated, was delivered and spread by the shed
common area.
- The Board heard that the
players who volunteered need to get in touch with Bob Swarthout or Rich
Eacobacci to get an assignment for field work, so we have ongoing coverage
split among several players, to lessen the load on fewer members doing a large
share of the work.
- Gary Silveria to put a
budget together for the All Star Game, and a discussion among the Board for
approval.
- Rich Eacobacci discussed
field work, which consisted of fields 1 & 2 aeration and fertilizing, mowing,
foul line work, picking up of rocks from the infields before early games as a
result of the infield dragging during the afternoon of games that night. Seats
have been installed in both grandstands for spectator comfort.
- Bruce Reinhardt was
authorized by the Board to purchase gopher traps to see if he can have some
luck against these critters.
- Frank Kasparian has
procured an insurance policy for the league from Philadelphia Indemnity
Insurance (Gateway Park insists we have this in force) through Senior Softball
USA group plan with a yearly premium of $535. The Board approved payment of
the premium from January 1ST 2008 until January 1ST of
2009.
- The Board approved a $5
gas allowance for our scorekeepers, as was previously approved for our umpires
on game days.
- Grant Montgomery addressed
the Board about some shirts and numbers that were wrong, and he will inform
each manager to submit the corrections so he can re-order.
- The Board approved men
players over 70 years old and women of any age can use any softball
bat in our league.
- Jerry Furman reported that
ice pack supplies and first aid supplies are at the ready in and on top of the
ice box in the shed.
- Frank Kasparian cut a
check to Gateway Park for $4,500 for weeknight softball games at $25 per game.
- New business: Board
approved Bob Swarthout to go ahead on advertising signs to be hung on field 1
outfield fence. Sponsor signs would be restricted to 4 feet high by 8 feet
long.
- Rich Eacobacci was given
approval to find out from the County information about eight acres adjacent
to the park that a new ball field with lights could be built on.
- Next Board meeting to be
on June 4TH at 6:30 pm at Reinhardt residence.
- Meeting adjourned at 9:15
pm.
