GOLD COUNTRY SENIOR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION P. O. BOX 328 PENN VALLEY, CA 95946 MINUTES FOR MAY 19, 2010 BOARD MEETING
The meeting was called to order by League President, Dave Anderson at 6:04 PM. Other board members present were Bill Wilson, Dick Scott, Steve Cochran and Richard Eacobacci. Members in attendance were Garrison, Howland, Tipton, Faciana and Hackett. A workshop was conducted to discuss the defibrillator and other first aid supplies. Attempts will be made to identify the location of first aid supplies, maintain the defibrillator and increase awareness. The supplies are in the container storage and accessed via the side door. A number of members had expressed disappointment regarding makeup games on Fridays in June. It was decided to keep the Friday make up as selected for June, but any additional rainouts would be postponed to the end of the season. (Note that after the meeting several members expressed continued disappointment with the Friday makeup games and Dave with support from the board canceled the Friday games). The after season will consist of a single elimination tournament and about 22 more games. The screen material is all used up and a motion was made, seconded and passed to purchase and install more screens. A motion was made, seconded and passed to order 56 by All Star hats. Questions arose about the supplemental rules for the Saturday Division. A supplement rule was presented to the Saturday players and was adopted by majority consent to modify the substitution rule to better fit the needs of the Saturday Division. (Copy of Saturday supplemental rule included) A discussion about different methods of selecting teams was brought up, but no action was taken as our present system is working well. Visiting teams are not always securing equipment properly. More follow up and training will be done by board. More complaints have been made about the quality of score keeping. Dave will continue to monitor the scores and umpires and provide constructive criticism as required. We have two players on a waiting list for weeknights, but no need has surfaced to date. SUPPLEMENTAL RULES OF PLAY FOR THE SATURDAY LEAGUE The GCSSA Rules of Play shall apply with the following stipulation: Managers must utilize available players from the Saturday draft players as a first priority. If, after a reasonable attempt fails, managers may choose from the players on the weeknight league with conditions. Managers may not select players of equal rank, but must add 2 to the missing player rank, with the further provision that the rank will not exceed 12. Example: A manager qualifies to replace a player with a rank of 2. In this case the manager may choose a player from the weekday players with a rank of 4 or higher numerical value. The manager who selects a player from the weekday players is obligated and will be assessed a fee of $5.00 for each substitute taken from the weeknight players. Payment shall be made to GCSSA.
