 Announcements and News

 [New!]Sign-up/Player-evaluation sessions for the 2010 season will be held all Saturdays in March at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley, beginning March 6 at 9:00am.  The sessions are used to allow managers to evaluate players according to skills and abilities and thus draft equally balanced teams.  The deadline for submitting a signed application and waiver will be March 20.  Only players  signing up on or before March 20 will be in the draft.  Note that March 27 is also a player evaluation day,  but you must still sign up by March 20th. The draft is tentatively scheduled for March 28.  Practice games to start around April 6.  The regular season will start about April 19.

[New!]Tom Holland will be hosting batting practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays (weather permitting) at the ball fields starting at 9:00 AM.

Dick Scott has been appointed to the GCSSA Board of Directors, replacing Larry Edgerton.

The league is producing a DVD of the GCSSA 2009 highlights, to be available to members in January .

Board seated for 2010 season.   Dave Anderson is  Board President.   Other officers are the following:  Vice President - Steve Cochran;   Secretary - Richard Eacobacci;  Treasurer - Bill Wilson;  Sgt. at Arms - Chamba Lane;  Asst. Secretary - Dick Scott;  Asst. Treasurer - Don Pryor. 

The 2009 Awards Picnic was held on Saturday, September 19.  The following players were recognized for the Weeknight League.  Bill Cordery - Most Valuable Player, Efrain Ortiz - Rookie of the Year, and Bob Swarthout  - Don Runcie Award for Most Inspirational.   Batting Titles were won by Al Richie and Chris Garrison (co-champions) for the 50's, Don Heyfron for the 60's and Jim Tetzlaff for the 70's.  

Grass Valley Glass wins the 2009 GCSSA Saturday League championship with a record of 19-3-1. 

Tax Dodgers  defeats Taco Shell  9-7 to win the Single Elimination Tournament.   Click here to see the complete bracket. 

Stucki Jewelers wins the 2009 GCSSA Weeknight League regular season championship with a record of 24 - 8 - 4.  Click here to see a team picture.
