Mike Shatz (Presiding over meeting)- New Board Members

New Board members will be selected without a vote per bylaw provisions since there were five vacancies and five nominees for the board.  Nominees are Rich Ramirez, Bill Wilson, Gary Silveria, Jerry Furman and Grant Montgomery.

General Discussion on Improving the Playing fields at Western Gateway Park

Funding for Improvements:

<     The park has no funds to take care of the fields (mowing and holes in outfield)

<     GCSSA does not have enough funds to keep up the fields (needs volunteers)

<     Rich Ramirez suggests that players pay for their team shirt and hat.

<     Bob Swarthout recommends Board send out a survey to players for volunteer work on the fields.

<     George Calkins says the outfield needs flailing to remove grass so the bad spots can be identified.  We will have to rent a flail mower and do it ourselves.  Liability problems keep Cal Trans from volunteering.

<     Don Heyfron says to think about having a tournament and raffle to make some money for GCSSA.  We need to get tournament application to make it legal for Norcal.

<     Raffle is a good way to make money instead of tournament says Calkins.

<     Ramirez has a friend to consult on what the field needs.

<     Little League needs to help out on field 1 as they use it early in the season.

Next Board meeting is on December 12,2007 at 6:30 at the Northridge Restaurant in Penn Valley, CA.

Bill Wilson
