The next general meeting is to be held on 3-22-08 at 12:30 pm at field #2 grandstand, after the Saturday morning practice session. 

The player draft will be held 6:00 pm Sunday, March 30, at a place not yet confirmed.  

Monday, March 31, will be the first practice game with all teams playing one game during the first week of April at 5:30 pm. Games to be announced at later date. 

The regular softball season is scheduled to start on Monday, April 7, at 5:30 pm. 

The new player fees to spend on scoring/statistics/umpiring/field improvements/etc. will be $150 for weeknights, $75 for Saturdays, and $200 for a weeknight/Saturday package. 

The SURVEY results, with 57 respondents (approximately 50%) follow: 

1.      Should we have an 11th fielder? Yes 30%, No 70%.

2.      Should we have an 11th fielder on Saturday? Yes 26% No 61%.

3.      As safety is a concern, for future planning, should the league be split by age? For example, the 50’s for the aggressive and competitive, and over 60 or 65 for more recreational? Yes 16% No 51%.

4.      In 2007, we spent $5,850 for scoring/statistics. Suggestions have been made that this money would be better spent on field improvements. Options:

a.      Continue scoring/stats and raise fees to improve the fields. 46%.

b.      Eliminate scoring/stats and reduce fees. 5%

c.      Eliminate scoring/stats and use money for field improvements. 21%

d.      Umpire keeps score and teams keep stats for their players, if desired. 28%

e.      Other – Please comment at end of survey. 9%

5.      Would you be willing to volunteer occasionally for field maintenance projects? 61%

6.      How should we determine the league champion team?

a.      League standings. 58%

b.      Playoff of all teams. 19%

c.      Playoff of top 4 teams. 14%

d.      Other. 11%

7.      Should we have a tournament at end of regular season? Yes 71% No 25%

8.      Should bat usage rules stay the same as 2007? Yes 84% No 7%

9.      Should the “one-up” home run rule be discarded? Yes 44% No 33%

10.   Should there be an All Star Game? Yes 75% No 16%

11.   Should All Star hats be provided? ($620 in 2007) Yes 46% No 46%

12.   Would you be in favor of starting games earlier at 5:15pm? Yes 79% No 23%

13.   Are you in favor of the Zero-Zero count? 35%.  The Zero-One count? 11%

   The One-One count? 47%
